Therapy and Supervision Services

01.

I work with the full spectrum of eating disorders including Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder, Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, Orthorexia and disordered eating. I also work with women experiencing body image struggles and/or obsessive or compulsive exercise. I take a non-diet approach, focusing on Intuitive Eating and Health At Every Size® principles. I have experience helping clients transition to outpatient treatment from higher levels of care. For a decade I worked as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team in a residential eating disorder treatment center, which provided me with incredible experience communicating with other providers about our mutual clients. This often includes dietitians, psychiatrists and physicians. Helping clients find value, passion and peace without obsessing about food, weight and exercise is my goal. Though it can be a long and challenging journey, my personal and professional experiences have shown me that it is possible and worth it!

02.

I work with women during pregnancy and postpartum, as well as those experiencing infertility and pregnancy loss. For clients receiving therapy for perinatal mental health, I help process thoughts and feelings related to changes in their body, identity and relationships. I also help identify and create support systems and prepare for birth and postpartum challenges. For women experiencing infertility, I help process the complex emotions and decisions about wanting to have a child. I provide a safe space for women who have experienced pregnancy loss, including women who are pregnant and having  anxiety due to previous pregnancy loss. If needed, I refer to psychiatrists or ARNPs who specialize in perinatal mental health medication management.

03.

I work with women experiencing mood issues including depression and anxiety, as well as issues with self-worth and perfectionism. I support clients with exploring underlying contributors to mood, perfectionism and self-worth issues, including their upbringing, societal expectations and current life stressors. I help clients challenge unhealthy belief systems, learn coping strategies and identify their strengths and values so they can develop more confidence, healthier coping strategies and a meaningful life. When appropriate,  I refer to psychiatrists and ARNPs to support clients with medication to help improve their mood.

04.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I explore family systems and relationship patterns even with individual clients. I often work with clients on communication skills, boundary setting and understanding how their family of origin and previous relationships impact their current relationships. I also work with clients on increasing and improving their support systems by sharing struggles and advocating for help from trusted friends, family and partners.

05.

As an IAEDP approved consultant (CEDS-C), I offer consultation for providers who are seeking their Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) credential through the International Association for Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP). I can offer 100% of the required consultation hours to mental health providers and a portion of required consultation hours to providers in other fields (for instance dietitians). I can provide consultation for CEDS to providers licensed in any state. For more information on the CEDS certification through IAEDP visit http://www.iaedp.com/certification-overview/.

As a Washington Approved Supervisor, I provide clinical supervision to associate level therapists seeking licensure in Washington. Depending on the mental health discipline (for instance social work), associate level therapists may be required to receive a portion of their supervision hours from a supervisor with their license type. More information on supervision requirements for Washington therapists can be found at https://doh.wa.gov/.
